Recently I read a column, the title being “How To Be Human.” As I pondered, God accepted that challenge, and gave us the example in the life of Jesus. Lent is an appropriate time not just to think of Jesus’ sufferings, but of His entire life and work, which culminated in death and resurrection. Jesus gave us the example to “Go, and do likewise.” We are Jesus’ brothers and sisters, called to follow as disciples, but He told us after His resurrection that He must go so that we can listen to the Spirit.
In the northeast we are privileged to have four seasons. In the spring, all creation shouts for joy! Trees blossom, flowers bloom, baby animals are born – all signs of new life. We carry this new life within us as Easter people all year long. Our song is “Alleluia.”
It is time to reflect. In daily life do I share the peace, joy, love of Jesus with others? Where do I put my attention? On people who are poor, children, on nature, on the world and need, or just on my scrolling fingers? Perhaps we can see more closely if we look around us. Are we attentive to the Spirit?
Remember, I came that you may have life, risen life, and share it abundantly.
