A time for reflection
acknowledging the gifts of God
A time for prayer
searching the attitudes of Christ A time for fasting
leaving behind what holds me bound
A time for almsgiving
sharing the graciousness of God

Lent 2023 – Reflection 3

The one who plants trees knowing that s/he will never sit in their shade, has a least started to understand the meaning of life (Rabindranath Tagore). Lent invites us to ponder the meaning of life, the change of heart that invites us to plant seeds for the future.

El que planta árboles sabiendo que nunca se sentará a su sombra, por lo menos ha comenzado a comprender el significado de la vida (Rabindranath Tagore). La Cuaresma nos invita a reflexionar sobre el sentido de la vida, el cambio de corazón que nos invita a plantar semillas para el futuro.

Lent 2023 – Reflection 2

Prime

Creation flows from the fountain fullness
of creative energy,
Springing from a creative and dynamic Source of Love.
Relational, personal, generative, communicative
Love
Spilling over on the canvass of space-time;
Creation is like a song
That flows in the most beautiful of harmonies.
What could possibly account for such
Creative beauty bubbling up
Into life?
Could it be
The Beauty of Life itself,
A Divine community of Love?
Creation is a work of Art
And the Artist is a whole
Community painting
As I write.
Not one person but
Interlocking creative energies of
Divine Persons.
How could I possibly know this,
Unless I am somehow – mysteriously –
Related to the
Creating Persons?
Which makes me a personal
Created co-creator
Of an ongoing vision I can
barely detect.
But the vision grows within me
When my ego gets out of the way,
And I can see
For a brief moment,
A Radiant Wholeness
In Love.

Cuaresma 2023 – Reflexión 2

Primordiarmente

la Creación fluye de la plenitud de la fuente
de la energía creativa,
brotando de una Fuente de Amor creativa y dinámica.
Relacional, personal, generativo, amor comunicativo
derramándose sobre el lienzo del espacio y el tiempo;
La creación es como una canción.
que fluye en la más bella de las armonías.
¿Qué podría explicar tal
belleza creativa que brota
en la vida?
¿Podría ser
la belleza de la vida misma,
una comunidad divina de Amor?
La creación es una obra de arte.
Y el Artista es toda
la comunitaria pintando
mientras escribo.
No una persona sino
las energías creativas entrelazadas de
las Personas Divinas.
¿Cómo podría saber esto,
a menos que sea de alguna manera, misteriosamente,
relacionado a la
Persona Creadora?
Lo que me hace convertirme en
Co-creador personal creado
de una visión en curso que
apenas puedo detectar.
Pero la visión crece dentro de mí
cuando mi ego desaparece del camino,
y puedo ver
por un momento breve,
la Plenitud Radiante en el Amor.
Enamorada.

Lent 2023 – Reflection 1

Lent—
dry desert days,
dreaded emphasis on denial,
giving up and buried alleluias.
Like re-enactors
we feign that we don’t know the end to the story
which is really the beginning…the Risen One.
Lent is the Church’s springtime—
a time of hope, promise, renewal.

Lent is Christ going down into the tombs
(those dank dwellings of dark despair)
to push life out of the earth.
From the onset—
I want to “live deliberately” to choose Life
to remember that we are an Easter people.

Cuaresma 2023 – Reflexión 1

Cuaresma–
días de desierto secos,
énfasis en la negación,
renunciando y enterrándose los aleluyas.
Como recreadores
fingimos que no sabemos el final de la historia
que en realidad es el principio… El Resucitado.
La Cuaresma es la primavera de la Iglesia—
un tiempo de esperanza, promesa, renovación.
La Cuaresma es Cristo descendiendo a los sepulcros
(esas moradas húmedas de oscura desesperación)
para expulsar la vida de la tierra.
Desde el comienzo—
quiero “vivir deliberadamente” para elegir la Vida
para recordar que somos un pueblo pascual.

Lent 2023

Thank you for visiting the Sisters of Divine Providence blog. We are eager to share the Lenten season with you using this interactive format.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the days are getting longer and the temperatures are getting warmer, signaling the season of spring. A similar phenomenon is occurring in the Church calendar. Lent is the Church’s springtime. These days provide us with an opportunity to re-ground, re-create, renew. This is a time of hope, promise and renewal.

Too often, we enter these 40 days like re-enactors, feigning that we don’t know the end of the story. In truth, we are an Easter people, on every day of the calendar.

As we undertake this Lenten journey of 2023, let’s focus on what it means to live as Easter people—even in the midst of lent.

Our first reflection will be available on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Cuaresma 2023

Gracias por visitar el blog de las Hermanas de la Divina Providencia. Estamos ansiosos por compartir la temporada de Cuaresma con usted usando este formato interactivo.

En el Hemisferio Norte, los días se hacen más largos y las temperaturas más cálidas, lo que indica la estación de la primavera.  Un fenómeno similar está ocurriendo en el calendario de la Iglesia.  La Cuaresma es la primavera de la Iglesia.  Estos días nos brindan la oportunidad de volver a moler, recrear, renovar.  Este es un tiempo de esperanza, promesa y renovación.

Con demasiada frecuencia, entramos en estos 40 días como recreadores, fingiendo que no conocemos el final de la historia.  En verdad, somos un pueblo pascual, en todos los días del calendario.

Mientras emprendemos este viaje de la Cuaresma de 2023, concentrémonos en lo que significa vivir como Pueblo Pascual, incluso en medio de la Cuaresma.

Nuestra primera reflexión estará disponible el miércoles 22 de febrero de 2023.
